I believe we counted. This is the 3rd Annual Davidson/Alexander Christmas tree cutting adventure. We head north to the Southern Tree Plantation in search of the perfect forever tree. We try to get one that we can replant after Christmas. So far, we have had one to survive. The Alexander's actually hike and cut their favorite tree after searching through each field. This year Curtis' sister met us out there and we had lunch together. Eddie enjoyed running around with the kids and showing them how to jump down 10 feet without breaking anything! We hiked around and watched Ruth sing her "Matilda the Gorilla" song from Cubbies... we have that on video and wish I knew how to put it up here as well. It is worth more than I could ever explain.
We also had marshmallow time around the fire. That's always a highlight for the kids. Not so much for the parents who have to do the cleaning and coralling once the sugar kicks in. But then, the entire day is about making memories for the kids. One day they'll want to take their kids to a tree farm to pick out a Christmas tree just like I did with my family in Zebulon, GA! Those are the forever memories... even if the tree doesn't survive!
